Hello and welcome to exampundit . So here is the much awaited Strategy for IPPB PO Prelims 2016 which will be held on 7 and 8 January, 2017. The strategy is provided by our mentor Ketan and this will surely help you to score Maximum in the prelims.

IPPB Prelims Strategy

One should always start with their strongest section but from what I have experienced so far I think it’s best to start with English then move to Reasoning and end with Quantitative Aptitude.

Recently I have further refined above order in 2 rounds and it has worked well in recent high cutoff – high competition environment.

The reason why I have moved onto 2 rounds is because of cost benefit ratio analysis

Cost – Time
Benefit – More Accurate Attempts = More Marks

Round 1: 30-35 mins – 45-60 marks (Less time – More Marks)

English (should take 10 mins max) (15-20 marks)

Complete Cloze Test, Fillers, Error Detection, Sentence Correction, Vocabulary of Comprehension.

Note: Don’t even look at para-jumble and Comprehension.

Reasoning (another 10 mins max) (10-15 marks)

Complete Inequalities, syllogisms and miscellaneous.

Note: Ignore puzzles.

Quantitative aptitude (should take 15 mins max) (20-25 marks)

Complete Simplification/Approximation, Number Series, Quadratic Equations and Data interpretation.

Note: Avoid Word problems

The reason I avoid solving Comprehension, Para-jumble, Puzzles and Word problems in Round 1 is that these tend to take time and other less time taking easy questions might get left out.

Round 2: 25-30 mins (More time – Less Marks)

Now one should take up their strongest section and complete the left out questions.

This Round is generally time consuming but we have already cleared our sectional cutoffs and very close to clearing overall cutoffs.

Out of 3-4 puzzles in reasoning, at least 2 should be crackable in about 7-8 mins.

Out of 10-15 word problems, at least 7-8 will be of basic level and should not take more than 8-10 mins.

You can try to attempt Comprehension and Para-jumble but mark the answer only if you are more than 90% sure about it.

IPPB has very limited seats and if the prelims exam is of easy level then a high cutoff is expected.
